Convocation

- The Convocation tradition, introduced by Head of School Jake Dresden in 2002, brings students, faculty, administrators, and staff together on the first day of classes, and features remarks and reflections by members of the extended CA community including alumnae/i, teachers emeriti, and trustees.
Each year, the CA community gathers at Convocation to begin the new school year. In 2007, Convocation featured guest speakers Head of School Jake Dresden, Ellen Condliffe Lagemann '63, President of the Board of Trustees, Student Body President Joe Shapiro '08, and Teacher Emerita Sylvia Mendenhall.

The entire Concord Academy community gathered September 4 for the sixth annual Convocation, marking the beginning of the new school year. Teacher Emerita Sylvia Mendenhall, who taught at CA from 1956 to 1992, was the guest speaker. Other speakers included Jake Dresden, head of school; Ellen Condliffe Lagemann ’63, president of the board of trustees; and Joe Shapiro ’08, student head of school.
