The Hall Fellowship
Every year, Concord Academy honors former Headmistress Elizabeth B. Hall (1949-63), by inviting a distinguished professional to campus to engage with students and faculty.

- 2007–08 Hall Fellow Ishmael Beah
Typically, the Hall Fellow delivers two lectures, visits classrooms, and meets informally with students during meals and at other small-group gatherings. Recent Hall Fellows have included former Governor of Delaware Pete du Pont; filmmakers John Sayles and George Roy Hill; noted geneticist Dr. Eric Lander; HM Queen Noor of Jordan ’69; former Nobel Peace laureate Elie Wiesel; former national security advisor Paul Nitze; and former secretaries of state George Schultz and Henry Kissinger.
In 2007–08, Ishmael Beah was honored as Hall Fellow. A former child soldier in Sierra Leone and a leading human rights activist, Mr. Beah, 27, is also the author of A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. In a community assembly on April 3, Mr. Beah shared his remarkable story with faculty, staff, and students. During his visit to campus, Mr. Beah also visited several CA classrooms, and addressed alumnae/i and parents in an evening discussion.
