Head of School Search
Head of School Jacob A. Dresden has announced his retirement from Concord Academy, effective June 2009, when he will have completed his ninth year of service to the school.
“It has been my honor to serve Concord Academy and to lead its growth and development,” Dresden said. “The school is very strong, comprised of talented students and brilliant faculty and staff. This gives me confidence that CA is poised to attract and welcome its next head of school, and satisfaction that I have done my job well. I look forward to continuing my responsibilities next year as Concord Academy transitions to a new leader.”
Concord Academy’s Board of Trustees has retained the Boston-based firm of Isaacson, Miller to conduct the search for the school’s next head of school. The Board of Trustees has also appointed a twelve-person Search Committee, which is chaired by trustees Peter Blacklow ’87 and Mary Malhotra ’78, and includes representation from trustees, faculty, staff, alumnae/i, and parents. It is the intention of the Search Committee to name a new head of school for Concord Academy by the end of 2008 or very early in 2009.
The Search Committee welcomes constituent participation in the search process. Please submit any inquiries, observations, suggestions, and nominations directly to Rebecca Swartz at Isaacson, Miller at rswartz@IMsearch.com. All submissions will be reviewed by the search consultants and the committee and will be held in confidence. While the search consultants and the committee will not be able to provide a direct response to each comment, please be assured that all feedback will be reviewed and taken into consideration during this process.

Search Process Underway
Posted April 25, 2008
The Search Committee has begun to shape a thoughtful and inclusive search process. In early April, Isaacson, Miller visited campus in order to learn more about Concord Academy and its aspirations for the next head of school. The consultants met with students, faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as representatives from alumnae/i, parents, and trustees. Drawing on these community conversations, the Search Committee and Isaacson, Miller will develop a position profile identifying the experience and qualifications needed for the next head of school. This document will be publicly shared with the Concord Academy community and will be distributed to potential candidates and sources during the networking phase of the search.
