What CA Means to Me

What’s it like to be a boarding student at CA?

I love being a boarding student at CA. I am completely enveloped by the school—I live where I learn and am surrounded by a constant support base, emotionally and educationally. As a boarder, I’ve learned to support myself, but even more so I’ve allowed myself to be supported by my friends, and to trust friends and teachers as intimately as I trust my family.

What are your favorite things to do on the weekend at CA?

On the weekends, I love to go into Boston without a purpose. With three or four subway tokens in hand, I am unstoppable and can run free wherever I like knowing with confidence that I can easily return “home” again. Not every weekend do I fit in an entire day of urban exploring—instead I may end up lounging around either upstairs in the Stu-Fac or on the quad, chatting with old friends and oddball acquaintances I would never have ended up with without the serendipity of lazy weekends. Whether we engage in witty banter or heated arguments, interesting topics always come up. I rarely find myself bored and relish in the freedom of “hanging out.”

What does common trust mean to you?

Common trust is freedom, with respect. Respect doesn’t add guidelines, but rather morals that fall into place once you decide that freedom is what you want.
