What CA Means to Me
Kristian
Boarder
Dorcester, MA
What did CA’s environment encourage you to try that you might not have tried otherwise?
The environment here has encouraged me to try for leadership positions. CA has always encouraged me to be who I am and to reach as far as I can. And sometimes, most of the time, taking that extra step goes a long way. Here there is door after door after door, waiting to be opened. Concord Academy has always taught me to just grab the handle and pull.
What do you like about being a boarding student?
I appreciate the sense of community that we share. I also like the fact that I have more than one home and that I can share it with all of my friends. The quad is pretty awesome, too—on beautiful Sundays, it’s especially nice to chill out there.
What are your favorite things to do on the weekend at CA?
I like going on the IHOP trips, hanging out in the common rooms watching a movie with friends, or going out to eat at one of the restaurants in town.
What has your involvement in student activities taught you about yourself?
My involvement in student activities has taught me that I easily develop passions when I put myself out there or take risks—I’ve found new pleasures when being involved. My involvement has taught me that I’m capable of taking on the pressures that come along with leadership positions, and that I can have fun regardless of those pressures.
